Wisdom

There's been a lot of talk about wisdom in our family lately. Our church has a 'theme' each month for the children, and September is wisdom. Sunday morning and Wednesday nights, the theme is expressed, repeated, and discussed. The book of Proverbs happens to also be the book we've chosen to use for our morning Scripture studies at home. The kids have now memorized both Proverbs 13:20, and Proverbs 9:10-12. I'm prayerfully hoping these Scriptures will be carved permanently into our hearts and minds.

Just talking about wisdom doesn't always give you wisdom. Look at Solomon...he failed miserably at the end of his life. He was led away by his hundreds of wives, and began setting up idols to the gods his wives worshipped. Making choices requires wisdom, and I pray that God's Word will not return void as my children grow up. What a blessing to see them grow in the Lord, but I do not take it for granted. Wisdom requires thinking about what is right AND doing it. A prayer I say with my kids every day is this "Help us to be wise with our words and actions and that it would be pleasing in your sight, Lord."
