Well, here we go again...another year in full swing. I was thinking today that years down the road I'll sit and wonder "How did I raise my family and homeschool?" I know it's a question many older people wonder. It's hard to remember yesterday, much less what we did 30 years ago. So I'd like to know in 30 years...how did I do it? This might be tedious reading to you all, but I will personally enjoy logging the things done in a day.
Today:
7:30---Alarm goes off, decide to lay in bed 15 more minutes
7:45--Get up, get ready for the day
8:00--Wake up the kids
8:05--Come down stairs, pick up a few things off the floor. Kitchen: Put out cereal, bowls, spoons, fruit, and milk. Begin to work on the coffee.
8:15--Coffee maker is acting funny, running water through it. Go check my kids schedules for the day. Eat cereal.
8:30--Kids eating breakfast. Hubby and I working on coffeemaker....he fixes it (long story on the problem, anyways...it's fixed!)
Check e-mail while waiting for coffee
Motivate kids to continue finishing breakfast and chores, reminding about which books to take with us to the dentist.
9:00 AHHHH...first cup of coffee Pack lunches for us to take with us.
9:30 Out the door for dentist appt. for oldest child
Answering questions about adjectives, nouns, and "The Hobbit". Kids are working quietly while I drive and sip on coffee.
10:15--Arrive at dentist, sign something I can hardly remember now what.
10:20--Ask the hygienist to please change the channel as the Rach. R. show audience is asking very intimate questions to a guest Dr. Kids are snickering. WHEW....Andy Griffith is on now.
10:45--Hygienist tells me a baby tooth may need to be pulled....can we stay? Yes. (my teenager still has 2 baby teeth left...and 12 year molars are still growing in!)
11:20--Done with the extraction, daughter drooling, kids using restroom
Eat lunch in car.
11:45--At the mall, picking up sneakers for middle child.
Saved $20 on rewards certificates.
12:20--McD. for ice cream.
12:45--Micha. to return two items.
1:20--Return home while making phone calls in the car to Scout leader about next two days activities.
1:45--Kids start more schoool work, I check e-mail again, planning a field trip.
2:00--Youngest has meltdown over math....realize she's hungry....low blood sugar...get her food.
2:30--Start her on a different math curric. since the other math always ended up in tears. Better math. She likes it.
3:00--Civil War Game with kids.
3:30--Phone call, sit down to watch Food Net.
Check kids schedules...motivate kids to finish math.
4:00--Two out of three kids done...one still lagging
Start dinner, pretend I'm on a cooking show, make great pasta dish. Call friend about youngest coming to play tomorrow.
5:15--Eat dinner.
5:45--E-mail and
blog idea, field trip planning again.
6:10--Getting off computer to check 3rd child's math, get ready to take son to Scouts activity......Hubby comes home and gives me a kiss....
