Scout and Princess had their well-checks today. I didn't tell them until they woke up. Princess is TERRIFIED of needles. She passed out when getting her blood drawn once, and when she was very young 3 nurses had to help with the vaccinations. The worst part is that she remembers everything. Having a good memory is helpful, but having a great memory can be detrimental to your emotional state. Anyway, she did have to get a shot today....many tears, many tissues, but at least there wasn't any running involved. Scout got 3 shots, and didn't shed a tear, or barely even wince. In fact, he grinned and said "that hurt" and that's it. They wanted us to get the flu shot, but I said no...enough tears for one day...and enough shots.
Later, I regretted my decision when a friend of mine said the flu was so bad that her Dr. cancelled their well visits (didn't want anyone well coming in and getting sick). WHAT?? Oh man. So I called our Dr. back, and they said no, I had to make another appt. I missed my chance. But later, they called back and said they could get us in today.....Wow. I said yes, I'll bring in two of them, but not my Princess Terrified of Needles daughter. The nurse put me on hold, and came back a few minutes later.....lo and behold there is ONE flu mist spray left for her (only because another child recently decided on the shot instead of the mist). So, here we go....off to get their shots, and spray.
