A particular store

It's official, I really do hate this one particular store in town.......it's quite large, and has groceries AND everything else. Well, you know which one it is. I gave it another try today, and two and a half hours later, I decided I very much dislike this store.

Why? Well, I have a clear-cut, very organized grocery list with me, handwritten in a notebook...........baking items in section of the page, produce in another, dairy in one corner of the page. There are things like herb-seasoned croutons, bisquick, and cans of pumpkin that aren't always in the same spot in every store, so I have those items listed separately. So, where would you look for croutons? It was not with the boxed stuffing, not in the baking aisle, not in the bread aisle. Call me stupid, but I never did find them. After 10 minutes of searching, I figured it wasn't worth my time. How about bisquick? Baking aisle, bread aisle, ceral aisle. Nope, couldn't find it. I finally found a clerk, who told me yes, it's in the baking aisle. WHERE? I kept looking. There it was.....the 4 that were left, on the bottom shelf, across the aisle from the shake and pour bisquick. Then there were things like canned sweet potatoes.....the only kind they had were chunks of yams, in heavy syrup, there were no other brands or types of sweet potatoes. No thank you. How about velveeta cheese? Where would YOU put velveeta? Although it doesn't have to be refrigerated, I would put it near the dairy section (makes sense to me). Last time I was in W. it was with the sodas and drinks (?)..........today, it was between the potatoes and the onions. Hmmmm...not my first thought of where to look. I found it by accident because I needed potatoes and onions. How about sour cream? Would you put it next to the cheese and cream cheese, or down another aisle next to the yogurt? It was right next to the yogurt. Who plans these things? Do these people know how inconvenient their store is? I'd really like to go in there and organize. I could go on and on, but I won't. Some of the other customers in the store already heard me mumbling down the aisles, and probably thought I was some crazy lady on a rampage for croutons and velveeta cheese. One customer told me it was a marketing PLOY to get you to go to other aisles. I'm thinking.....or maybe it's a secret marketing PLOT by another store to get me out of there and never come back! OK, I'm done venting now.

Sorry to say, but I know which store you're talking about... you can find coutons near the salad area, not far from the onions... there's another place I saw them, but I forget!

I know the store you are talking about, too, and have really come to hate it in the 5 years I have been living here.

I bought croutons there yesterday near the salad dressing, just in case you are still looking. :)

But, yes, that store has decided what you should buy, and if you think you want something that they don't stock, then it is you who is wrong. Don't bother asking an employee to bring in some different product. They don't have any more power to make stocking decisions than the customer does.

Actually, let me clarify...it's not croutons I was looking for but rather dry stuffing mix (Peppridge Farm). Yes, I looked near the salad area, but couldn't find it there, either! Humph
