I admit, I love to travel. I always have, and probably always will. For some people, a weekend away like the one we had would be draining. But I'm energized, refreshed, and ready to go. Just a few days away puts a new perspective on life for me. Today, I actually got my house in total order, dishes and laundry done, and groceries bought and put away, plus homeschooling and unpacking.
We left Saturday for my 20 year high school homecoming. We had a few return from my class of 26, and it was fantastic to see them. So, between teachers who still there, and the alumni, it was a great time of reconnecting. My kids got to see where I lived and went to school, and then we took them to NYC on Sunday. That was quite exciting for them........we went up to the top of the Empire State Building, viewing the city and the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, bridges and buildings. We walked through Broadway, Radio City, Rockefeller Center, and toured the entire city on a double decker bus. We saw Scottish Policemen dressed in Kilts, a Hispanic funeral procession down mid-town Manhattan, and such a variety of interesting people, including "Pilgrims" as my 8 year old called them (Hassidic Jewish Men). We "experienced" the city, fully, in one day. We left the city at dusk, and by the time we got out of the city, we could view the entire skyline in lights. However, as pretty as it was, we were pretty upset as we drove out of the city.
One notsogreat thing that happened while we were there......we parked our car in a NYC garage, for $40. My Number One Guy, being the cautious man that he is, memorized our mileage on the car, and had a funny feeling about leaving the key with these parking attendants we'd never met. We had left personal items and important electronics in the car, and a sign was posted in the garage "Not Responsible for Any Items Left in Vehicle." This unnerved both of us. When we arrived back at our vehicle that evening, the passenger window was all the way down, and yes....the car had been driven 20 miles while we were touring the city. With the exception of loose change, everything else was accounted for, except our feeling of safety. The nerve of these people! We were pretty happy to see the soybean and corn fields when we woke up this morning. As refreshing as it was to be away, it was great to be home.
Now my little Princess is sick, and Number One Guy will be getting two impacted wisdom teeth out tomorrow. Pray for both of them.

Oh my! I've never heard of that. Yes, the nerve. I would be very unsettled myself. What a fun day though. Thanks for sharing.
Despite the creepy factor, I'm glad you all had fun. I was thinking about you all weekend. It was cold and rainy and windy here and we mostly stayed in. I made soup. I made stew. We made bread. I shopped a bit. I ate popcorn. I read at night. A good weekend for me. Very good. Except for all that darn baseball. Ugh.
