Shopping for Clothes!

Clothes shopping is so much different than it was 5 years ago. Five years ago, I could take one afternoon with 3 small children, go to WallyWorld, swoop through the kids section, and get it all done. Now, there's so much more to consider.
First of all, I now have two girls who LOVE to shop, not just have to shop. So more time is involved. Secondly, there's the issue of my son who hates to shop, so I usually find somewhere for him to go when we need clothing for the girls. This Wednesday, he'll be spending the afternoon swimming and doing "boy stuff" with a friend and his two brothers. Thirdly, there's the issue of modesty.
I often wondered how we would approach the modesty issue with our girls. I've often heard about the "clothing battles", and I actually hear these battles happening in the dressing rooms in Dept. stores. My husband and I have really tried to model modesty in our home, and teach the kids from a young age how to make appropriate choices. So, believe it or not, it is actually a joy to shop with my pre-teen girl. I'm so proud of her for the respect she shows, and very rarely do we have to speak to her about her clothing choices. In fact, I have picked out things that I think are "cute" and she says "I don't think Daddy would really like that", or "Mom..that's too short!". Then I smile at her, and place it back on the rack. I usually go home and wonder how I was so lucky to get a daughter like her! I know, we still have all the teen years ahead of us, but at least for now there's a great foundation.
So, tomorrow is shopping day and "girl time". I can't wait!
