I just had 2 funny episodes in the life of a stay at home mom.
The kids aren't doing school work today, since it's MLK Day. It's been great to clean without distractions. Thinking that I vacuum and clean quite often, I was surprised at how dirty the carpets were. I vacuumed the entire downstairs, and continued up the stairs, down the hall and into my daughter's room. As she watched me from her bed she asked "IS SOMEONE COMING OVER TODAY?" That's when I started laughing. My 7 year old only has to ask a question like that in order for me to "get it". OK, OK, so I don't vacuum as much as I should. I can de-clutter, clean my kitchen and bathrooms regularly, but vacuuming and dusting aren't on the top of my list. When the ticker tape on fox news starts becoming difficult to read, I know it's time to dust! And when my kids start asking for people to come over, I guess it's time to vacuum!
Along those same lines, I'm going to start adding more variety to my menu. I made cream of potato soup last week. As my two youngest kids picked up their spoons with hesitation, I told them to go ahead and try it. Of course, the question I knew would eventually come was "What's in it?" As I told them it was mainly milk, butter, potatoes, and seasoning I could see relief written across their face. "So there's no chicken Mom?" "No chicken." I said, apologetically. "Oh thank you Mommy" one of them said. "Yeah thank you Mom" said the other. Again, I had to laugh.......too much chicken on the menu these days?

That's hilarious! It's like my kids when I put make-up on - anything more than eyeliner and mascara and they are convinced that the President is coming for dinner or that Daddy and I are heading off for a black tie affair in the city! :)
Too cute.
