Back in Time and Back to Reality

First, the "Back in Time" part. We were so pleased to be able to venture to Williamsburg, VA for 3 days and 3 nights of fun and history. As a homeschooling family, it's sometimes very hard to pay those "school taxes" every year, when you're already buying so much curriculum to provide a good education for your kids. SO, "kudos" to Colonial Williamsburg....they offer "home educators weeks" in the Winter, and Fall, with significant discounts and special events. We were able to see Jamestown for a day, and Williamsburg for two days. Special "hands on "activities were provided in several locations, and on each tour the guides would ask "any homeschoolers?" Thank you, Williamsburg for making homeschoolers feel special. From the tour of the Governor's mansion, to the making of homemade powdered sugar and cough drops, it was a great experience. Even with all of that, we were still able to fit in swimming, arcade, shopping, and a trip to the nail salon for the girls and I. Not so colonial, but a lot of fun!

The Back to Reality part. Only 10 minutes from home one of the kids was sick in the car....and up all night with a stomach virus. Of course, mom and dad were also up with the child, helping, soothing, cleaning up, and worrying. So today, two out of the three kids are sick. One child has a respiratory virus (update: took her to the Dr. today and she has strep throat), the other a stomach virus........I definitely feel like a nurse today. At the moment, they're both resting. So, back to the reality of life. My only consolation is my modern day conveniences, especially the washer, and indoor plumbing!

Oh my word! What a way to finish the trip! Sorry for the bugs crawling thru the house, but hope everyone gets better soon. And I'm so glad you had fun at W'burg. Who knows, maybe next year, we can meet ya there?! :)
