This is one of those "What a Day!" days with a huge smile on my face. Figuratively speaking, with all the rainy days we've had here lately, we had a rainbow on Sunday. On Friday, my Number One Guy received a call from a business associate. This business friend's boss is part-owner of a local pro-ball team. (I will refrain from using names here). We were invited to sit in the owner's box, and were told there could be one or two famous people sitting with us. Well, let me tell you, from the moment we received our overnighted tickets, we knew this was a big deal. The tickets are a hologrammed hard plastic, with "owner's suite" printed on them. There was a letter, with some instructions on where to go and how to dress. I made a mad dash to the outlets on Saturday, and found something suitable to wear. Number One Guy got his suit ready.
We left on Sunday morning, and parked just steps away from the stadium with our VIP parking pass. In showing our tickets to the lady at the door, we realized how rare this opportunity was. She looked at the tickets, wide-eyed, and said "I've never seen one of these before...wow...well have a blessed day!" Next, we were escorted to a special owner's entrance, and shown to the area where we met Number One's business friends. There was food, a full bar, sitting areas, and several large TVs. We had a "snack" of Caesar salad, fresh fruit, salmon, and sodas. When the owner's wife stood up to go to the owner's suite, we were told to leave the plates, and follow. OK...well, too bad about the fruit, but I couldn't wait to see where we were sitting. Down a long hallway, and into a set of double doors, opened for us, and into a large room with another full bar, seating areas, enormous pictures hung on the wall of team photos. To the left there was a table full of food, and in the center, enormous vases full of fresh cut roses.....red roses, white roses, too many to count. In front of us was the field, and OH WOW a few steps away from us..... a very famous news journalist...Charles ******, and there's Sam *********! Oh, and it's Chris *******, and Bernard ****! Oh....and there was someone with a Superbowl ring on, and another former journalist, Bob *****. There were at least eight well-known people we could pick out in the room full of about 45 that we sat with. Yes, I said, sat WITH. There were 3 very long granite-type counter tops, with binoculars at each seat, and nameplates for each of us. Immediately, we were asked if we needed anything. Yes, a soda please. As I looked to my left, there was a small table with chocolate covered strawberries, angel food cake, and small colorful finger foods that seemed to be prepared for a Queen. Oh, or just prepared for us! It was amazing, and I felt like I was somebody else. We sat down in our cushioned chairs, and watched the game. Wow....what an event. I couldn't help but steal glances every now and then to see how these news journalists were enjoying themselves. They loved every minute of the game, and so did we. Chris ******* and his wife sat directly in front of us. It was such a fun experience, and one I will never forget. Let me tell you, ladies, there were 36 fresh roses in the ladies room, and yes, I counted them! The bodyguards in the main room sure made me feel safe....at least four of them, probably more. It was time to eat, so Number One Guy and I went to check out the food. The plates were hard to find, but I finally found them....the waiter was freshly washing and drying them practically in front of us. The food was delicious, and we finished watching the game with our plate of food. Thankfully, our team won, and out came the hors d'oeuvre's, and champagne........shrimp, chilled pea soup. Both were scrumptious. We kindly declined the champagne, but toasted with our coke, and congratulated the owners of the team. Again, we mingled with our friends, as the journalists mingled with each other, just a few feet away. As we left the building we still felt like we had been in another world. Our friends were flying home on their corporate jet, and we left the parking lot in our SUV....back to the real world. I headed home to do laundry and straighten the house for the coming school week. Number One Guy got out the bills to pay. It was great while it lasted, and a true unexpected blessing.

how cool was that!!!!!!!! you go with your bad self girl!,,,,,,,(o:,,,,
What a wonderful experience! Now you have had a glimpse of the 'good life.' But know in your heart, that despite the glamor and pampering, there are parts of your life that the people you were with that day would envy; your beautiful family and excellent marriage. These are things that cannot be bought and many times, success comes with at the cost of family.
It is funny to have the contrast of going home back to your normal tasks. Did you manage to hang onto the glass slipper?
Did you say to anyone, "I wonder what the poor people are doing today?"
A big pat on the back to you for not name dropping! LOL!
