Vacation

We are having a super fun summer so far. We were on vacation down at the beach for 8 days. We about overdid it in the sun, but had such a blast on the beach with hubby's metal detector. We found pieces of metal, an old hairpin, about $2.00 in change, and an old WWII bullet! The kids were really into the treasure hunt, and couldn't wait to go back out and dig some more. How cool it was to spend hours together, having fun digging in the sand. We also found two big bags of shells. I'll be putting them on display in a large clear vase for our entertainment center....a great reminder of our trip.
Along with treasure hunting, we "did" a waterpark. The largest and scariest looking slide was off limits for this thirty-something mom.....or so I thought! By the end of the day I worked up the guts to try it, and it was a blast, and yes, once was enough! The kids had fun with a family who met us there with their kids. We also walked on the boardwalk, swam in the ocean, and mini golfed. For the first time in the history of our family, nobody got a hole in one! We truly did have some special times together as a family, and felt blessed to have beautiful weather.

Now we're in recovery mode from vacation, attempting to establish a summer routine of some kind. I think we'll probably hit the library tomorrow for some books, and a special speaker is coming to talk about insects......a far cry from all the fun we've had, but at least it's better than watching t.v. or playing video games all day.
