School's Out...we're talking freedom!!

Hooray, school's out....for me, the teacher, and my 3 students. I feel like it's summer vacation all over again since being a kid! It's a weird sensation between "I LOVE this" and "Hmmm....which project do I tackle first?". It's the first real day of freedom, and we have spent it with extremely humid weather. Our family bike ride turned into a short jaunt up the street and back, due to the fact that it was sweltering, and my daughter's new bike (just purchased 6 hours ago) is now making a metal on metal noise. Ho hum....nothing is ever simple.

This summer we're truly making it a summer vacation. Does anybody remember just hanging out, swimming, taking bike rides with neighbor kids, eating popsicles, and being so bored by the beginning of August you couldn't wait to go back to school? Those were the days. Now it's....swim team, dance classes, extra baseball games, camps for everything from chess player camp to math genius camp, etc.. I doubt many kids actually get the opportunity to feel bored anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like all these opportunities for kids, but sometimes life just needs to STOP! So, we aren't joining a pool, I only have one child going to a 3 day camp, and dance classes will only occur for a few weeks, 2 hours a week. Other than that, we're doing whatever we think is fun, interesting, and sometimes that means....nothing at all!

What are you doing this summer?

Hey there long lost friend!!! I've been checking your blog and I hadn't seen anything so I'm cleaning out my email and came across your link so I thought that I'd try it again....and you posted. So I'm glad that school's out for you.....we still have to school the whole summer b/c of me working. Enjoy your summer and drop me a line if you feel up to it.
